trash and treasures

Trash and Treasures, April 13-14

The Town’s spring Trash and Treasures is scheduled for the weekend of April 13 and 14. The Town offers this curbside bulk trash collection so that residents can dispose of items that are no longer usable. Please remember to bag, box, or contain all of your discards, and do not put items at the curb before noon on April 12 or after 7 a.m. on April 15.

The following items will not be collected as bulk trash: construction debris; vehicle parts; loose glass; firewood or fencing; paint cans; flammable or hazardous materials; recyclable items; and yard waste. If you have items that can be recycled or repurposed, we encourage you to come to the Lawton Center on Saturday, April 13 for our Community Recycling & Shredding event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

CRIMEWATCH: Theft of Mail From Bethesda U.S. Post Box

The Town has received a report of theft of mail from a U.S Postal Service mailbox outside the Bethesda, US Post Office. The Montgomery County Police Department is aware of the incident, and it has been reported to the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS).

Montgomery County has seen a rise in cases that can also include check washing.  More information on check washing and how to protect yourself from check washing is available here. Those who believe their mail was stolen should report it immediately by submitting an online complaint here or by calling USPIS at 877-876-2455. If you observe any suspicious activity, please report it to the police immediately at 911. Report any crimes that have already occurred to the police at 301-279-8000.

tree

Native & Street Tree Plantings

The Town is preparing its spring tree planting list. If you have a spot in your yard suitable for a tree, you may want to take advantage of the Town’s Native Tree Planting program. Under this program, the Town will purchase and install a tree on your property at no cost to you. Residents are  responsible for the long-term care of the tree once installed.

You may request a native tree here. You also may request to have a tree planted along the street in front of your home. These public trees are maintained by the Town. You may request a street tree here.

waste

We love your dog because you do, but we don’t love their doo doo.

Pick up after your pet!

Attention all residents, dog walkers, and teens: Let's keep our community clean and enjoyable for everyone by picking up after our furry friends, especially along sidewalks and the grass in front of homes. Children often play in front yards and neighbors regularly walk along the sidewalks. Leftover dog waste poses a slipping hazard and can lead to illnesses. Remember, it only takes a moment to scoop the poop and deposit the waste into one of our many Dogipot stations, but it makes a big difference in keeping our sidewalks and parks pleasant for all.

A map of the Dogipot stations is available at bit.ly/TOCCDogiPots. Let's all do our part in keeping our community pristine and safe for everyone. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated! .

GPLB

REMINDER: Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers
